The next video in my "Footage" series [described here] shows the new Ad Hoc, User Driven Migration capabilities in Notes Migrator for SharePoint 4.5. The clip is a few weeks old so it still uses the internal "On Demand" terminology for this new feature.
The idea with our new Desktop client is to allow end users to decide when they want to move a document to SharePoint and perform the operation instantly. Our 4.5 release provides two options here. First, we allow users to simply select a few documents in the Notes client and drag them to our new Windows Toolbar. The other option is to use our new LotusScript API to customize existing Notes applications to push documents to SharePoint based on whatever user interface and business rules the developer sees fit to implement. This video shows both modes of usage.
Some customers are using these new options as just another means of migrating applications. Others see this as a new integration technology, enabling them to more effectively use SharePoint for certain tasks even though they plan to keep their Notes clients in place.
