Whatever happened to Proposion On Demand?

Those of you who knew us as Proposion Software (before we got acquired by Quest Software) might remember a product we were working on known as Proposion On Demand ("POD" for short).  The idea was that it was going to be a set of LotusScript APIs that would call into the same web service that our migration tool (Proposion Portal Migrator at the time) used; thus allowing Notes developers to integrate their apps into SharePoint.  We were not that far away from shipping this on the day we got acquired.

So what happened?  Soon after joining Quest we made two decisions:

First, we decided to combine Proposion Portal Migrator and Proposion On Demand into a single Quest product, Notes Migrator for SharePoint.  (We also combined the Notes, QuickPlace and Domino.Doc versions of the tool at the same time.)

Second, we realized that, while the functionality was getting some big customers pretty excited, many did not want to modify their existing Notes applications.  This was especially true about their mail templates (and pushing selected mail messages to selected document libraries is what a lot of our customers wanted to do).

That's why we decided to add a Windows Toolbar to the product, which allowed users to simply "drag and drop" selected Notes documents to toolbar icons that represented target SharePoint lists and libraries.  With this, customers did not have to modify their Notes apps.

All this finally came together in Notes Migrator for SharePoint 4.5, which, as faithful readers of my blog know, RTM'ed yesterday [link].

Now, at last, we have completed the "Ad hoc user-driven migration" portion of our story, as show in the top middle caption on our "concept" graphic:
