Many organizations now use the Notes Migrator for SharePoint Discovery Edition for analysis of Notes application environment analysis, particularly in a pre-migration scenario. Based on some recent customer/partner feedback we have improved the usage analysis portion of the tool. The following changes will be in Notes Migrator for SharePoint 5.2 Beta 3 [link].
1. New properties have been added to the Usage Analysis data that NMSP gathers:
· Last Usage Analysis – Date you performed the scan
· Recording Activity – “Y” if user activity tracking is enabled in the database. (Warning, this is not detected during discovery but rather during usage analysis. Therefore if you do not see a “Y”, you need to look at the Last Usage Analysis date to see if the data has been gathered.)
· Last Used All Replicas - Similar to Last Used, except that this one merges information from all replicas of the selected database
· Active Users, Active Users All Replicas – These are simple counts of the number of unique non-excluded users found in the databases User Activity log. (Note that Domino limits the size of the User Activity log for each database. Therefore highly active databases will not look back as far in time, so be careful about putting too much importance on the exact number. )
· Active Users, Active Users All Replicas – These are simple counts of the number of unique excluded users found in the databases User Activity log.

As before, all gathered information may be exported in full detail to XML files, which may be used for viewing in Excel and other tools. Just select the database records you want to export, right click, and select Export Database Records.
2. Analysis process now captures dates with per-user analysis details. Also list users that are excluded from totals

3. New user interface for managing Excluded User Names from the detail dialog.

4. The First-time Setup Wizard now includes a step for setting up your Excluded User Names list before you do your first discovery. You can easily add your own Notes name as well as all known servers with this step.

5. New prompts in a number of places that explain what is going on.

6. New usage report that summarizes activities per-user and drills down into per-database (similar to the existing one that shows user activity per-database then per-user).
Thanks to Quest's über presales consultant Tim Fountain for creating this report. (A nice testament to the ability to design custom reports in our tool.)
